This course is aimed at those wishing to further develop their counselling skills. It is also a natural progression from the Introduction to Counselling Skills. Delegates need to have completed the first course before booking onto the Counselling Skills and Theory.
The course will cover the following topic areas:
- Ethical frameworks
- Values and beliefs
- Confidentiality and contracting
- Advanced empathy skills
- Goal setting and self disclosure
You may have successfully completed the Level 2 in Counselling or alternatively you could have experience working with people or supporting them in their day to day lives. You will need a good general education at level 2 as a minimum, together with additional qualifications to show an aptitude to undertake the completion of Level 3 assignments.
You will be assessed in a variety of ways including:
- Skills practice and observation
- Reflective accounts
- Filmed observation
- Skills assessment
You will be required to produce a portfolio of work
Successful completion of the level 3 in Counselling Skills can provide CPD for employees and volunteers working in the care sector and / or provides a progression route by enabling successful candidates to apply for the Foundation Degree in Person Centred Counselling.
